Darwin Nuñez brilliant performance to score four goals in 30 minutes against RB Leipzig for Liverpool 5 goals Win

Liverpool ran out convincing 5-0 winners in Leipzig with Darwin Nunez grabbing four of them on an encouraging night for the Reds as they look to step up their pre-season preparations.

The match was billed as possibly Liverpool’s toughest pre-season test yet, having played Manchester United and Crystal Palace so far, but they resoundingly laid bare how ridiculous those suggestions were by swatting aside a poor looking RB Leipzig side.

Mo Salah’s early strike rewarded a positive start for Jurgen Klopp’s side at the Red Bull Arena as they gear up for the 2022/23 Premier League campaign.

Despite the hosts showing some signs of life either side of the restart, substitute Nunez ran riot in the second 45, to silence his recent doubters.

In the second half, Nunez, who replaced the largely ineffectual Roberto Firmino, looked sharper and more in tune with his teammates than he had done in his previous two outings. His first goal came from the spot, a weak penalty in truth but one that clearly provided him with confidence.

Six minutes into his night he had two, collecting a pass from Trent Alexander-Arnold before finishing clinically.

He wrapped up his treble on 68 minutes, turning in from fellow substitute Harvey Elliott’s cross, before adding another in the final minute from a pass Fabio Carvalho, another of Liverpool’s summer signings.
