Cristiano Ronaldo to Chelsea Latest deal
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner, who is now 37 years of age, still has 12 months left to run on his contract at Old Trafford but is eager to keep himself in contention for major honours and feels another new era for the Red Devils under the tutelage of Erik ten Hag is not yet ready to deliver on that ambition.
Having committed to a two-year deal upon his return to Manchester in the summer of 2021, Ronaldo would need United to do him a favour in agreeing to an early severing of ties.
With 24 goals recorded across all competitions last season, in a campaign where many other so-called stars struggled to find a spark, the Red Devils will be reluctant to part with such proven pedigree.
This is according to BBC’s transfer expert, David Ornstein.
Orstein claims the Blues are considering a move for Ronaldo, who made it clear last week he wants to quit Old Trafford.
Ronaldo is desperate to continue playing in the Champions League, a competition where he has scored the most goals in history.
Chelsea owner, Todd Boehly, is “intrigued” by the idea of buying the 37-year-old, while manager Thomas Tuchel is undecided.
Manchester United wants Ronaldo to stay and complete his contract with them but Jorge Mendes has been working closely to finalize a move of the world class player away from Old Trafford
Mathhijs de ligt Transfer update.
Chelsea’s priority at centre-back this summer has become Matthijs de Ligt rather than Jules Kounde according to Fabrizio Romano. De Ligt wants to come to the Premier League and the West London club are currently in negotiations with Juventus.
Chelsea have lost two centre-backs on free transfers this summer – Antonio Rudiger has joined Real Madrid and Andreas Christensen has joined Barcelona. They need to replace them and now seem to be whittling down their list. Barcelona, for their part, will be happy their interest in Kounde has cooled.
Juventus have reportedly decided to reject Chelsea’s latest offer to sign Dutch international centre-back Matthijs de Ligt.
De Ligt is one of a number of centre-backs who has been heavily linked with interest from Thomas Tuchel’s side this summer as the club look to replace Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, who both left the club earlier this summer.
That offer is set to be rejected straight away by Juventus, with De Ligt still having two years left on his contract at the Juventus Stadium.
The Blues currently only have a small number of options to fill up their back three. Club captain Cesar Azpilicueta has played there, with Thiago Silva, Trevoh Chalobah and Malang Sarr also competing for minutes there. The likes of Levi Colwill and Ethan Ampadu are among those to come back from loan spells and could be integrated into the senior squad following loan spells away from Stamford Bridge.
Raphinha transfer to Chelsea Update
On June 28, Chelsea came to a full agreement with Leeds for Raphinha’s move to Stamford Bridge. The Blues are willing to pay between £60million and £65m – including add-ons – and this has matched the Whites’ asking price.
Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is keen to get the signing over the line. Clearly, he thinks it would be a great way to start his stewardship of the club.
However, Chelsea are having trouble sorting out personal terms with Raphinha and his agent, Deco.
That’s because the attacker is eager to join Barcelona – their president Joan Laporta confirmed this on Saturday.
Barca are willing to pay an initial £51.7m, which could rise to £60.3m. Leeds would prefer to accept Chelsea’s offer, but Raphinha’s desire has to be taken into consideration.
