Chelsea and Leicester City square off at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon with both teams having endured indifferent starts to the new Premier League campaign.

While the Blues have collected just four points from their opening three fixtures, the Foxes have posted just one draw, leaving the clubs in 12th and 19th position in the standings.

Brendan Rodgers hasn’t had a great start with the Foxes, drawing once and losing the other two times in his first three games.

Meanwhile, Thomas Tuchel’s side have won once, drew once and lost once, most recently getting destroyed 3-0 by Leeds United.

New boy Kalidou Koulibaly wasn’t available for the game after getting unnecessarily sent off in the final five minutes of the Blues’ previous game.

Chelsea took all three points off Leicester City in a 2-1 home win after going down to 10 men. Here are the player ratings from today’s game.

Raheem Sterling then broke the deadlock in the 46th minute after a deflected shot looped over the Leicester keeper. Sterling then had two to his name when the winger was at the end of a Reece James cross, doubling Chelsea’s lead.


Leicester then had their turn after Harvey Barnes caught Edouard Mendy out at his near post which gave the away side some hope however Chelsea managed to fight off the foxes and claim the three points.

Marc Cucurella assisted Sterling’s first goal of the game and looked strong going up and down the pitch

Conor Gallagher was sent off early on after two reckless challenges saw the English youngster dismissed for receiving a second yellow card.

It was another poor game from Gallagher after letting the team down with two reckless challenges leading to the English international getting sent off in the 28th minute. Gallagher has failed again to make an impact in this Chelsea squad.

Marc Cucurella signed for Chelsea on a six-year contract from Brighton & Hove Albion and has seen be showing commitment to the squad

The versatile defender arrives just weeks after his 24th birthday following an impressive debut season in the Premier League with the Seagulls, during which time he made 38 appearances in all competitions and scored his only goal in their penultimate home game against Manchester United.


Such was the positive and swift nature of his adaptation to English football, playing in a variety of roles on the left-hand side including full-back, wing-back and centre-back, Cucurella was voted Player of the Season by both Brighton supporters and team-mates.
